Dubai Knowledge Village (DKV) Free Zone Company Registration Process

Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority DTMFZ approves the setting up and registration of DKV’s companies

Six steps to incorporate a FZ-LLC where the corporate person or the entity is the shareholder:

Note: to incorporate a FZ-LLC where (1) the natural person/individual and corporate person/entity are shareholders or (2) an FZ-LLC where the natural person/individual is a shareholder or (3) to incorporate a Branch or (4) for Freelancers, please visit the DKV website for more information.

Dubai Knowledge Village (DKV) Company Registration

The registration and setup of companies in DKV is approved and regulated by Dubai Technology & Media Free Zone Authority.

Types of Companies

Free Zone LLC (FZ-LLC)

Legal entity with shareholders as individual persons and / or entities
At least one director
Minimum capital requirement AED 50,000

Branch

Branch of an overseas or local company – not a separate legal entity from its parent company
A branch has the same business activities as the parent company
No minimum capital requirements

Freelancer

A Freelance Permit is issued to an individual with business activities which are under his/her name and not under a name of a company or brand.

Issuing of DKV Company Commercial Licenses and Freelance Permits

Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone Authority’s Registration and Licensing Department issues commercial licenses and permits for the types of companies described above.

Commercial Licenses and Freelance Permits:

Business activities must be in compliance with the licensing regulations issued by DTMFZA
DTMFZA must approve the business activity
The client must lease a facility of DTMFZA
The license covers the operation of a business only within the free zone
Licenses are for a period of one year and are renewable annually (penalty or termination for delay in license renewals)
One segment and one business activity per license, except for HR consultancy in which case one segment and three business activities are permitted

Amendments to Licenses

The following amendments to licenses can be requested by DKV’s clients:

Change of company name
Change of business activity within the segment
Additional business activity within the segment
Change of company address
Change of director
Change of manager

Transfer of Shares

A FZ-LLC company incorporated at DKV can change its share structure as follows:

Increase of share capital with new shares to existing or new shareholders
Transfer of shares to new or existing shareholders
Decrease of share capital

Other Changes to Licenses

Change from Branch of an overseas company to a FZ-LLC
Merge or amalgamation of two or more companies inside the free zone
De-registration and cancellation of licenses

Regulation

DKV is regulated by the Dubai, Technology & Media Free Zone Authority (DTMFZA) whose clear regulations, which comply with global standards, enable the companies within the free zone to operate correctly.

Issuing of Visas

Visas are issued by the Government Services Operations (GSO) department of TECOM. GSO also offers many other services such as immigrations services, postal and traffic services with its one-stop shop.

Management of DKV Campus

DKV Facilities Management Team manages the facilities and the day-to-day running of the DKV campus. It maintains the safety, security and level of customer satisfaction while ensuring that the campus infrastructure (buildings, mechanical/electrical systems etc) operate properly.

Fit-Out Process

DKV provides a “Fit-out Process” through TECOM’s Engineering Management Department which provides the services of a one-stop shop, handling the processes and approvals required in setting up an office.

Partner Development Management Team (PDM Team)

The Partner Development Management Team supports DKV’s business partners by providing them with platforms for the sharing of knowledge and best practices. PDM organises workshops and provides research and publications to professionals working in the UAE.

Partner Relationship Management Team (PRM)

The PRM Team supports DKV’s clients by initiating and managing the feedback from customers to ensure customer satisfaction as well as providing other services such as monitoring customer feedback, carrying out customer satisfaction surveys and organising client events.

Advertising and Venue Management Services (AVMS)

TECOM provides Advertising and Venue Management Services. Indoor and outdoor venues are available as well as a broad range of other indoor and outdoor advertising facilities.

Car Parking System

A system for the management of car parking for reserved parking and road metered car parking is administered by The Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA) to deal with the high demand for car parking spaces in DKV.
