Masdar was established in the year 2006 and is a subsidiary of Mubadala Development Company which is owned by the Government of Abu Dhabi.

Masdar City Free Zone Registration Process

5-Step Process for Company Setups

1. The client submits his/her application for the license, the business plan and other legal documents
2. Masdar City One-Stop Shop employees review the documents and issue a Bank Introduction Letter, AoA, MoA and issue the lease
3. The client deposits the capital, submits proof of capital issued by the bank and the MoA and AoA
4. The client signs the lease agreement and makes the payments
5. Masdar City One-Stop Shop employees issue the license, Certificate of Incorporation / Registration and the signed lease.

Masdar City’s Services

Setup of Companies

At Masdar City clients can set up their companies quickly and simply, choosing from the following types of company structure:

• Free Zone Limited Liability Company with corporate and / or individual shareholders
• Branch of a foreign or offshore company
• Branch of a local based company (which includes companies setup in other United Arab Emirates free zones)

Masdar City provides a simple five-step process for incorporating companies and setting up operations. The whole process takes a few days from the submission of an application to the leasing of an office space or retail outlet.

Note: Companies who operate in Masdar City do so in accordance with the companies registration regulations of Masdar City.

One-Stop Shop

Masdar City’s One-Stop Shop provides a contact point for clients and acts as their interface with various government authorities, service providers and Masdar City departments.

It offers:

• A license to start operations in five working days
• Work / employment visas in three working days
• Visit visas in two working days

Clients can focus all their resources and efforts on successfully operating their businesses.

There are several lease options for potential clients / investors:

• Land -developers can lease land for 30 years and build projects for commercial, residential and leisure (housing, malls, hotels, schools, shopping malls etc.)
• Design-Construct-Lease (DCL) -companies can have a long term lease with Masdar where they will design, develop and deliver a green building
• Business Center -clients can lease an office for their business operations
• Office / Retail Space -clients can lease office / retail space and fit them out to suit their business needs
